I had a stage 2 disaster today. I had a totally shit day.
I decided to transfer all of my songs off my iPod and onto my semi-new computer, to get itunes up and running again. My beautiful 8 years worth of downloading and painstakingly listening to a lot of crap deciding if it's worth keeping or not.
And... because technology and I have a terrible history, it all deleted.
I had a monumental breakdown.
WHAT THE FUCK!
Luckily Dad was in town, and showed me where he had previously stored 7000 of my old songs, which were the ones I was most concerned about, because Nic's computer holds most of the newer ones.
So the breakdown calmed down. And it turned out to be pretty sweet in the end, because I stumbled across old songs that I had previously pushed to the wayside.
Here's some - and a useless blurb, meaning absolutely nothing.
They are primarily from old MoS Chillout Albums, because they were a lot of the first compilation albums I ever owned. Yeah dawg.
Sia - Drink to get Drunk:
This is before "Breathe Me" and whatever other tracks she has recently released. This song came out in 2001, when she was a mere humble singer from Adelaide. This song has a completely different vibe from her more recent albums, and I used to be totally obsessed with this track, primarily because it contained the sentence, "don't ask me why I smoke because I don't know, but I drink to get drunk...", which I thought was a) pretty poetic (yup....) and b) fucking naughty.
Fatboy Slim feat. Macy Gray - Demons:
Ahh, umm... Don't judge me. This is a beautiful union. Macy's voice is ridiculous and Norm, well... I have a soft spot for him and Moby. Always have, always will.
And, that aside... ahhhh... this song fucking rocks.
Air - Playground Love
I loved the novel The Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Eugenides (Sp.?) and I love Sophia Coppola. I used to play this song and fantasize I was Lux Lisbon, before I was completely aware that her character was trampy. Still love her but.... Air is pretty great. So many awesome albums, Moon Safari, the Virgin Suicides soundtrack... It's pretty blissful.
Mr. Scruff - Get A Move On
This song reminds me of my sister for some reason. It was on this Cafe Del Mar album that my parents used to play all the time, and Steph and I could never remember who the artist was, but when it came on we'd be like "OH it's THAT song!!!"... we eventually realised the World Wide Web was there for more than Tetris (fancy that!) and found Mr. Scruff.
Lux - 100 Billion Stars
I really like Lux, a lot. It's really ambient, beautiful music. I'm always rather nostalgic when I listen to this kind of music... It's pretty rad.
Jose Gonzalez - Heartbeats
I've always had a thing for thinking this song is really amazing... and it is. I like The Knife. I like Jose. I like acoustic versions of already great songs... How very white of me!
I like nostalgia, so I'll probably do this again one day. I hope you can join me.
It's late, and I'm still awake.
Night.
Liv.
