It's a Tuesday. Here's an old favourite, from back in 1993.

I wasn't listening to hip hop when I was three, but if I was, I'm sure I would've been listening to this track.

Thanks, Tribe.

Things I Have Learnt from Sex and the City

As an old Sex and the City fan, the more I watch of it as I get older; the more I realise what a retarded TV show it is.
So, as a result, I have compiled a list of things I learnt from this show:

1. Men are better when rich. If the man you are with is not rich, he is more than likely not worth having around. With the exception of Steve, of course. But, then again, us ladies did have to push aside that absolutely filthy apartment and the fact that he DIDN'T own a designer suit to learn to accept him.

2. Men who are jerks, and who treat you really badly over a prolonged period of time are definitely worth waiting for.

3. Regularly maxing out your credit card to buy $400 shoes is not only acceptable, but also expected.

4. Being a slut is not just normal, but a way of life.

5. It's okay to sit in coffee shops and loudly discuss sex regardless of who is around.

6. Babies and children totally suck, and should immediately make you feel uncomfortable.

7. Women who marry and have children young are ridiculous, and definitely not the path you want to take.

8. Having your own job is awesome - but having a man with money is heaps better.

9. Pretentious cocktails are the only way to go.

10. If in a middle-eastern country, you should definitely not respect their culture, and also, all middle eastern women wear designer steeze under their traditional outfits.

11. All married women pity those women are still single.

12. Talking about yourself for hours on end is tolerable.

13. If you have an awesome boyfriend who treats you really well, you should have an affair with your asshole ex. Everything turns out in the long run.

Nick Thune

This guy is hilarious. I saw him in Melbourne last year. I had never heard of him, but I thought it was hilarious. Nick Thune and his guitar.

Seriously, watch them if you have time.

The weekend has landed. All that exists now is clubs, drugs, pubs and parties. I've got 48 hours off from the world, man. I'm gonna blow steam out my head like a screaming kettle, I'm gonna talk cod shit to strangers all night, I'm gonna lose the plot on the dancefloor. The free radicals inside me are freakin', man! Tonight I'm Jip Travolta, I'm Peter Popper, I'm going to never-never land with my chosen family, man. We're gonna get more spaced out than Neil Armstrong ever did, anything could happen tonight, you know? This could be the best night of my life. I've got 73 quid in my back burner - I'm gonna wax the lot, man! The Milky Bars are on me! Yeah!

Fatboy Slim - Song for Shelter
Film: Bully
"No no, he just gets high a lot, he's just as normal as you and me."

Faithless - Woozy

The Chemical Brothers - Where Do I begin?
Film: Vanilla Sky
"This is a revolution of the mind."

The Velvet Underground - Oh! Sweet Nuthin'
Film: High Fidelity

One of my favourite Elliott Smith songs of all time, it was released in 2008 on the album New Moon; a compilation of his unreleased tracks.

Coffee and Cigarettes

Midnight in Paris

Woody Allen's latest flick is set to premier in May at Cannes. It's got a ripping cast; the ever beautiful ladies Rachel McAdams and Marion Cotillard. Owen Wilson and Adrien Brody (a personal favourite) and the wonderful Kathy Bates. Described as a "Comedy/Romance", knowing Allen's filmography, this will not be the standard RomCom.

Cannes is such an exciting time of the year.

He is seriously carving shit UP at the moment!

This is from the same Gil Scott Heron remix album that he released upon the world. He is really dweeby looking, but that does not deter from him being absolutely phenomenal recently. He is making my ipod go bonkerzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Enjoy'en

Enjoy the small amount of summer that we have - it was pretty crap, riddled by horrible weather. And I spent most of mine in negative temps in Europe - not that I am complaining about that factor.

This song is cute, and likable, at least... I think so.

Burial and Four Tet made a break through team when they created this track. This is magic.

Sorry Jimmy, "OLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLD"

Four Tet and Burial - Moth:

Mount Kimbie

Was an unbelievably sick show. So amazing.

Yay Mimbles Mountain Mintie Madness Kimbles Kimbie!

My Weakness

is probably my favourite track ever of Moby's. I saw him live a couple of years ago, and he was phenomenal. He is so intelligent with his music. His music reminds me of my father, who has loved him for a lot of years - it makes me feel so incredibly happy and content when I listen to it, which is how I feel when I listen do my dear old Dad's voice. Richard Hall (aka Moby), is a genius. I know it's an unoriginal choice, but Play was just the most flawless and perfect album. It resonates true mastery when understanding music. So many amazing tracks combine to make the perfect album, which is so important to listen to in it's entirety. 12 years after its release in 1999, the album is still modern and a favourite. This is saying something about the sound that he has created.

Love these songs,

Huge love from my couch,
Liv.

Another great track off the same album Play

Not included on Play, but this song Flower totally rocks ha ha!!

Ahhhh

Take it down a notch.

Blissful

I can't find a good quality live youtube clip of this song live that isn't a television recording. If you buy their DVD, they have amazing live clips of them on it, but Jonsi's voice is remarkable. This is probably my favourite Sigur Ros track; Untitled One (aka Vaka.)

Ahhh emotional overload. Not good for listening to on a lonely Saturday night indoors, but still... Simply stunning music.

Shinichi Maruyama

This video is the gnarliest thing I've seen in a long time. Beautiful.

Just in case

You ever thought to yourself, "What's my favourite Rolling Stones track?"

I have mine.

Undisputed.

Gimme Shelter.

I don't know why. But this song is just so siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick!

Lovingly,
Liv
(Still Beatles over Stones)

Remember?

How big this track was?
It is still bloody amazing

Yep.

Taking a journey back.

Chilled Beatz

Sneaker Pimps - Six Underground

I used to have a big thing for this track, many moons ago. My mum has always been a big fan of Ibiza and Cafe Del Mar compliations - and I distinctly remember this song on it. I thought it was so amazing at the time, and I still do, actually. Sneaker Pimps are pretty sweet when in the mood for some chilled beatz.

This song also featured on one of the albums - although I think it's a bit cheesy now, I still think it's such a nice track.

Pepe Deluxe - Lying Peacefully

This song is extremely old, now. But it's still pretty amazing. It's by an artist by the name Bent - and the song is called Sing Me. I don't really understand it, but I like it's sound

Anything Nightmares on Wax does is so insanely chilled out, their album Smoker's Delight is just incredible!
This one's called Night's Interlude

And probably the most chilled of all of them
Naomi - Astonsilicon

Wow....

Way to chilled out now.

Liv

Lost in Translation

My Bill Murray fetish continues to spur, as I crap on about yet another classic film Lost in Translation. The stunning slow-paced film shows the break down of a young marriage, and old marriage, and perhaps the strangest 'coming-of-age' films ever, Coppola's direction made for fascinating and beautiful shots, representing the Japanese culture in all of their unattainable glory! So many good things can be said about this film; Scarlett Johanssons' insanely perfect features, Bill Murray's ever present cynicism on camera - it does seem like he was perhaps acting out a life extremely closely mirrored to his!, and I have always had a soft spot for Giovanni Ribisi... he is awesome.
And the soundtrack for it was borderline flawless.

Thanks, Sofia. You're the greatest.

Air - Alone in Kyoto:

Peaches - Fuck the Pain Away

The Chemical Brothers - The State We're In

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

From Graceville,
with all my love in the world.

Riot Grrrrrllllllll

Kathleen Hanna - one of the originals and the best

Former front-woman of Bikini Kill and now Le Tigre. She is awesome, and a mega babe

Amazing scream on this one.

The original pioneer of girl screamo. I love it.
She dated Kurt Cobain for a while, and one time she wrote on his wall "Kurt smells like teen spirit." And then a song was written by the man himself..........

She wrote for some zines too. All in all, she is on the same level as Kim Deal in coolness.

Ha ha.

Kathleen Hanna forever.

Sundays

... are not necessarily the funnest of days.
Hopefully these songs can get you through.

This song is just so amazing
Joy Division - Atmosphere

The reigning queen of everything
Erykah Badu - Honey

And this... the most beautiful song, perhaps ever
The Cinematic Orchestra feat. Patrick Watson - To Build a Home

Sundays aren't always good, but these songs are.

Sending out positive vibes 4eVa

Stomacher

I really love this song, and this video. His voice kind of sounds like Thom Yorke - but not as good haha.

I really love this video - I think time-lapse videos have a habit of looking a bit wanky if they are over done, but this is just so blissful. Although, it does give me itchy feet, and makes me want to traveling again. I suppose this is the effect that they wanted.

Bliss...

Sincerely,
Liv

Original Pirate Material

Turn the Page is in my opinion The Streets best. I don't know why. I mean, Weak Become Heroes is absolutely incredible - but this song is a little underrated. I have never been able to see Mike Skinner live, which pains a bit, because I think he is totally incredible. I listen to The Streets all teh time, on a recent trip to London, all I wanted to do was walk around with massive headphones on, white-rapping my way around Brick Lane, but I didn't because I didn't want to embarrass Nic. I was pretty excited the other day when I realised that in Has It Come to This he mentions Mile End, we're Nic is currently residing - I was like "WOWWWEE Graceville never gets a mention in any sweet tracks."

This image credit is to Jared - siiiick image of Mike. I watched an interview with him the other day - I don't know what planet he is on, but I want to join him. He looks a lot cleaner these days then his previous years, but I think his years of getting mashed up have really effected him, he is pretty vague and docile - but also reallll sexy. Yeahhhhh

Here's some favourites of mine:
