Hong Kong take 1

From Hong Kong;
It's a 36 degree day. Hot. These are relaxing me in the apartment, trying to keep cool.

“I am most proud of my integrity and least proud of my cynicism.” Chloe Sevigny

Assessment is over, and I'm en route to Hong Kong for a four day break. Sleep deprivation is catching up, I can't wait for four days of summer.

This classic track never, ever fails to disappoint.

Joy Orbison - Hyph Mngo:

Check you later

Hudson Mohawke

... BAD MAN!

But seriously, this is a tune! I just wanna hit up KARMA and fist pump and beat up the beat!

A serious tune.

Hudson Mohawke - Thunder Bay

"Absolute bad man. Rude boy."

I wish I was not in the comfort of my own home right now.
Rude.

"Here are your grade point averages, Mr. Kroger: two Cs, two Ds and an F."

In recognition of the current exam/assignment status that my exciting life has become at the moment, I have compiled a few tracks that I study too... I find studying to music is hard, but when I'm on a roll, or just organising my thoughts, I like some background noise. Mostly an old and previously mentioned favourite Thomas Newman.

Brooks was Here - Thomas Newman:

Anni Rossi - Wheelpusher:

The Books - Smells Like Content:

Efterklang - Caravan:

Morcheeba - Big Calm:

Nightmares on Wax - 195Lbs (such a fresh track!)

This Will Destroy You - Quiet:

...and too not finish with something so intense

The Whitest Boy Alive - Keep a Secret:

And my favourite scholars D-Day, Otter, Boon, Bluto and Hoover:

See you on the other side.

Monday Mixtape

This is a small collection of songs that I like. Old/new but mostly chilled. It's a Monday, and life should be taken easy on a Monday, and these help set the tone for a relaxed week. I am trying to not wish time away, but I am looking forward to assessment being over. It's not that it's stressing, it's just that it tends to linger in the back of my head. I feel like watching Dazed and Confused but that film comes with serious side effects; none of which are studying.
Anyway; here's some tunes.

Devendra Barnhart - Little Yellow Spider:

Devendra Barnhart with Chan Marshall aka Cat Power at Coachella a few years ago. Rockin' combination.

Neutral Milk Hotel - King of Carrot Flowers pt. 1

Okkervil River - Song of our So Called Friend

of Montreal - Wraith Pinned to the Mist and Other Games
(this is a tune!)

Lux - Northern Lights

David Lee Roth, Beastie Boys and Sean Penn.

Lovingly,
Liv

Sunday 8PM

Faithless released his album Sunday 8PM in 1998, and was apart of that great movement that happened in the 90s that was amazing electronic music. This is by far my favourite track off the album, it's so beautiful and bizarre and stays true to Faithless' conventions whilst remaining unpredictable. It's an undisputed amazing track that is on the same level as any of Moby's Play or DJ Shadow or Massive Attack or UNKLE. It's fantastic. Sunday 8PM is a true masterpiece of artistry and I recommend it for any day of chilling out and complete relaxation and reflection.

Faithless - The Garden

I love everyone.

"In the end it's all nice."

In the midst of assessment, there is still things to look forward to.

DJ Shadow - Organ Donor

And in 27 the Return of the King.

Bill Murray as Hunter S. Thompson:

Love.
